“Be brave to stand for what you believe in even if you stand alone.”
The third dimension of the belief journey is our world view. How do we see the world?
There can be many aspects to the world view. This can involve how we see economic, social, and political aspects of the world. It can involve conflicts and resolutions in the world between countries and cultures.
In the first milestone on the belief journey, your views of the world can be derived from eternal sources, simply being a Vessel for the external beliefs. Once again, this can be an easy approach because you don’t have to invest much time or effort in assessing the belief.
In the second milestone, the Crossroads, you may find that the external belief system provided a set of beliefs that are not a good fit with the reality that you are experiencing. For example, the economic, social, and foreign policies of a particular political candidate that you and your family supported, have crashed your life. High rates of inflation have eroded the buying power of your salary. You are wondering how you will afford groceries. Housing prices have skyrocketed to the point you are worried about how you will pay for a roof over your head. It seems that society is no longer as safe and stable as it once felt, and foreign policy seems to be going in a direction that you see as holding little promise for the future.
In the third milestone, Self-Authorship, you are able to look at multiple world perspectives, analyze and assesss those perspectives, and arrive at your own authentic conclusion. You know that you may re-assess at a later time when you have more information and reach an updated conclusion. You may have friends, family, and colleagues attempt to influence you. But you have learned to think for yourself and draw your own conclusions about the world around you.
